Finding back my focal point and some rant/complaint

I haven't been as studious as I should be for the past few days, even though school has already started. My recently attention span which is ever shortening does not help my cause. Not a good thing. Still I am trying hard to find back the focus, which hopefully don't take too long.

Currently reading the book on Etale Cohomology by James Milne. I have started reading the first three sections of the first chapter (completed much of the first two only) and I have to say this is a very hard (and awful at times) book to read. It's even harder to read than Hartshorne's Algebraic geometry. By the way, Milne had also written another set of notes on Etale Cohomology which is easier to read but there are some details that he left out and refer the readers to his book. One stumbling block I faced when reading the book is that the proofs given are too terse and lack clarity at times. But I guess I have to live with it since it is something I have to learn.

Enough of complaining about of math. I have been getting recurring dreams about Singapore recently. The dreams seem so real at times that there are a few occasions when I woke up, I was wondering where I was and what I was doing here. It was only after a moment of recap that I remembered that I am in Canada and so on. Hmm...is this a sign of homesickness?

Hey MF!

I am feeling the same way as you do right now regarding the decreasing attention span. School hasn't started for me though, so I may be excused for this?

Anyway, there is a conference in Optimization going on in Mcmaster in June (I think) and I might be going there. I will keep you updated when I am more certain of my plans!
